Ko’olau Ballrooms Wedding

My team & I had the honor of capturing Makeala & Ronnie’s Ko’olau Ballrooms Wedding in Oahu, Hawaii. After endless planning, helping hands and so much joy. They crafted a day that spoke to them, their family and united their love story coming full circle.

We started the day with getting ready photos at The Trump Hotel in Waikiki. The bride got her hair & makeup done by Donny & Faith who are both Celebrity makeup artist and had the pleasure of working with them. Ronnie got ready in a separate room and my assistant was able to capture his dad & his boys getting ready with him with the dopest getting ready photos!

Then we headed to Ko’olau Ballrooms Wedding venue for an amazing ceremony that was so touching, filled with happy tears and finally making it official. We took family photos as well as bridal party photos with fun & creative shots. After we got to sneak away for some photos of just the two of them! Taking them to different locations within the course that we were able to stop at the bridge, the open lush greenery and more. All the beautiful locations and backdrops are what make Ko’olau Ballrooms Wedding some of my favorites.

The moment that stood out was when we were taking photos of just them two and their was an absolutely INCREDIBLE raw of lighting peeking through the clouds. Someone immediately called out, “that’s your dad looking down on you” who passed away recently. We felt his presence, we had a quick moment of silence, took it in and captured that glimpse through the clouds on camera that really hit me. It was such a beautiful moment to know he was looking down on his baby girl on their wedding day.

We then celebrated their reception with the most epic money dance, live bands, shave ice and amazing food. They had the best night celebrating with their friends & family and I’m so grateful I got to both witness & capture these moments for them to live for decades to come.

There’s not a lot that lives on past your wedding day, the flowers wilt, the decor goes in boxes, items get returned, the set up taken down but your photos you have for a LIFETIME. You look back at them every anniversary, holiday, for memories and more. Those photos last you forever and that’s why so many of my clients cherish those photos because they live on, they get hung in your house and are your keepsake to share with your children and generations to come.
